Cenote Suytun, Valladolid

With a circular platform to the center, Cenote Suytun has become the most popular cenote on social media platforms like Instagram. Located in the Yucatan Peninsula, it is one of the shallowest cenotes in the area. The cenote is also close to the city center and the world-famous Chichen Itza. Because this is such a popular cenote, you need to come early to avoid the crowd and if you want to take pictures with you standing alone on the circular platform.

Cenote Dos Ojos, Tulum

If you are interested in exploring the best cenotes in Tulum, Cenote Dos Ojos (Two Eyes Cenote) is something you shouldn’t miss. With beautiful cave formations and imposing stalactites and stalagmites, this cenote does offer a great appearance. The afternoon sunlight illuminates the water making it picture-perfect for those who want to post their pictures on Instagram.

Cenote Azul, Playa del Carmen

Not too far from the coastal highway, Cenote Azul offers a very different experience from the two mentioned above. The uniqueness of this cenote lies in the fact that it has no roof. With a broad opening, Cenote Azul receives plenty of sunlight throughout the day through the natural canopy at the top, making its turquoise water sparkle. Cenote Azul also has deep and shallow pools, making this one is ideal for kids and adults alike. Also, if you are not a jumper or a swimmer, you can still enjoy the cool water and the natural landscape.

Cenote Siete Bocas, Puerto Morelos

Cenote Siete Bocas (Seven Mouths) gets its name from the seven different sinkholes that allow the light to enter. Surrounded by vast jungles, this one is for those who prefer shady areas and tranquility. If you don’t want to jump off the cliff, you can always use the stairs that help you experience the calm waters of this cenote.

Gran Cenote

Another popular cenote in Tulum is the Gran Cenote, among the biggest ones you can find in Mexico. While the name of this cenote might make it sound like one big cenote, it is made up of a collection of connected caves and caverns. It is also quite picturesque, with crystal blue waters and the surrounding natural landscape. Here you can go snorkeling and dive between the underwater paths. This cenote also offers amenities like outside showers and private bathrooms, which is a plus factor.
